Ninja research

The stronger tools of NFRP World are researched: 19 projects in four tiers on World of Naruto's ninja research tab, next to World of Naruto's own projects.

In short

19 projects in four tiers on World of Naruto's ninja research tab. Starter gear, D-rank seals, the scribe desk and training rooms need no research; the costs can be changed or skipped in the settings.

Where to find it
  • Open Research and pick World of Naruto's ninja tab. NFRP World's projects sit to the right of World of Naruto's own.
  • The quickest way there is the Ninja research button at the top of the Ninja world panel (the shuriken button on the bottom bar). It opens the research screen on the ninja tab. If a research-tab mod merges the tabs, it opens that mod's screen instead.
  • The panel also shows how many ninja projects are done, what is being researched and which projects are ready to start. Click a ready project to jump to it.
What needs no research

A new colony still plays as ninja from the first day. These stay free:

  • village headbands, ANBU masks, the kabuto helmets and basic clothing such as the haori
  • packs, rigs and pouches
  • D-rank seals
  • the scribe desk, chakra paper and writing technique scrolls
  • the training dummy and the other training rooms
  • field medicine and instruments
  • basic bows and slings

Weapons and furniture that already needed base-game research (smithing, long blades, complex furniture) keep that requirement.

Tier 1
  • Scribe arts (600): all C-rank seals.
  • Ninja alchemy (600): the alchemy table, cauldron, alembic and funnel, plus brews, oils, ointments and shield and focus crystals.
  • Traps and alarms (400): caltrops, tripwire alarm, bell cord, pressure plate and spike pit.
  • Ninja weaponsmithing (800, after smithing): special quivers and bullet pouches, heavy and repeating crossbows, kusarigama, war umbrellas and other ninja weapons.
Tier 2
  • Sealing arts (1,500, after scribe arts): all B-rank seals and the ritual seals.
  • Chakra studies (1,500, after scribe arts and ninja alchemy): chakra potion, blood-increasing pill, soldier pill, agility boost and the chakra-sealing collar. Most of tier 3 needs it.
  • Advanced alchemy (1,200, after ninja alchemy): bombs, grenades and poisons.
  • Locks and restraints (900, after smithing): locks, cuffs, collars and the lock-breaking and security kits.
  • Ninja gadgets (1,200, after traps and alarms and World of Naruto's ninja tools): field radio, sensors, seeker mine, grapnel gun, lenses, spyglass, gas mask, weapon sights and grips.
  • Chakra metallurgy (1,500, after smithing and chakra studies): fire- and frost-forged steel, stormium, darksteel, cold iron, alchemical silver, venator's alloy and glassteel.
Tier 3
  • High sealing (3,000, after sealing arts and chakra studies; needs a scroll library): all A-rank seals.
  • Chakra-forged gear (3,000, after chakra studies and World of Naruto's ninja apparel; needs a chakra study apparatus): boots of levitation and speed, the cloaks, flasks and other gear worth up to 1,000.
  • Gem harnessing (2,500, after chakra studies): gem cutting, harnessed gems, the heating stone, frost crystal and sunstone.
  • Bloodline science (5,000, after chakra studies and World of Naruto's ninja lab; needs a chakra study apparatus): extracting and grafting bloodlines, taking a bloodline eye and the Kaguya bone sword.
  • Seal formations (3,500, after high sealing; needs a scroll library): the transit circle and warding sigil.
  • Surveillance electronics (2,000, industrial, after ninja gadgets and microelectronics): heat and noise sensors, laser tripwire, motion scanner, listening device and the desktop computer.
Tier 4
  • Supreme sealing (8,000, after high sealing and seal formations; needs a scroll library): all S-rank seals and the revamp scroll.
  • Legendary forging (8,000, after chakra metallurgy, chakra-forged gear, long blades and plate armor): the legendary swords and mithral, adamantine, dragonsteel and starmetal.
  • Relic arts (10,000, after chakra-forged gear and gem harnessing; needs a chakra study apparatus): everything worth 1,000 or more, such as the bracer of jutsu turning, bottomless duffle, propulsion disk, death's tear, plenty stone and growing stone.
Research rooms
  • The scroll library and chakra study apparatus link to the simple and hi-tech research benches and speed up research there. The desktop computer links to the hi-tech bench.
  • The projects marked above need that building linked to the bench they are researched at.
  • Every item's card on the Items page says which research it needs.
Settings and old saves
  • Ninja research cost (25% to 300%) changes the cost of every ninja project. Finished projects stay finished. Progression's research pacing, if you use it, still applies on top.
  • Start with ninja research done marks every ninja project as finished, so nothing in NFRP World needs research.
  • Both are under Village life in the settings.
  • A save from before the research tree gets the projects it already uses, once: everything you have built, carry or wear unlocks its project, and a letter lists what was granted.
  • The tree needs only the base game and World of Naruto. With Ferny's Progression or Medieval Overhaul loaded, a few projects also ask for those mods' writing, alchemy or advanced research bench projects.
