Gear

Over two hundred pieces of equipment from the archive's item catalogs, painted in a Japanese feudal style. Most are made at the smithy (weapons, metals, armour), the tailoring bench (clothes, cloaks, packs), the crafting spot or tool bench (gadgets, fittings, restraints, locks) and the alchemy table (oils, powders, bombs, medicine).

In short

Over two hundred pieces of equipment: weapons for every style, legendary weapons with their own technique trees, twelve special metals, bow fittings and quivers, worn gadgets, restraints, locks and books.

Weapons for every style

Each weapon style now has its own weapons: bō staff (Bōjutsu), naginata and ōgama great scythe (staff and scythe styles), nodachi and wakizashi (blade styles), ono and masakari axes, kanabō (can stun) and ōtsuchi (can knock back), tekko-kagi claws and tekkō knuckles, kusarigama (can tangle), steel wire spool (Demon Weaver; can web), ōgi battle fan (gusts knock foes back), and the spring razor. Ranged: yumi longbow, hankyū short bow, pistol, heavy and repeating crossbows, hand and staff slings, the poisoned fukiya blowgun and tetsudama iron balls. The tedate tower shield and iron buckler count as shields for Armiger.

Every weapon is drawn at a real-world length, on the same scale as World of Naruto's katana and kunai: tekkō and senbon are small, a wakizashi is shorter than a katana, nodachi and legendary blades are long, and bō staffs, naginata and the yumi longbow stand taller than the wielder. Pawns hold swords, axes and staffs raised like vanilla weapons, and two-handed weapons with both hands on the shaft when Show Me Your Hands is installed.

Legendary weapons

Four new legendary weapons join the clockwork blade and the blade of the dhampir: Ryūgeki, the dragon cleaver (fire and knockback), Kibaō, the fang king blade (wind, drains chakra), Hoshigiri, the star cutter (pierces armour) and Fūraimaru, the wind-thunder sword (lightning). Each needs Crafting 14.

Every legendary weapon has its own technique tree in the Taijutsu tab. The tree stays closed until the pawn first equips that weapon; after that it stays open. Passives stay on once learned; every active technique needs that weapon in hand.

Special metals

Twelve metals, forged at the smithy ten at a time. Weapons made from them get an on-hit effect and armour made from them a bonus:

  • Fire-forged and frost-forged steel, dragonsteel: burn or chill; armour resists fire or keeps you warm.
  • Stormium: can stun. Darksteel: deep bleeding. Glassteel: very sharp but brittle. Adamantine: cuts through armour.
  • Cold iron, alchemical silver, venator's alloy: extra damage to monsters, summoned beings and entities.
  • Mithral: very light and quick. Starmetal: dazzling flashes.
Bows and ammunition

Fittings (scopes, sights, stabilizer, grip, stock) are used on the bow, crossbow or sling in hand; a weapon holds two, and they take no seal slot. New quivers (karimata, togari-ya, yanagi-ba, vial, bolo, flechette, sonic, zigzag) and sling pouches (burrowing, groaning, tracer, tremor) work like the old ones: worn, they change every hit.

Worn gear
  • Packs and pouches carry more and some help with work (scroll pouch: faster rituals; medical pack: better tending). One pack, one pouch, one gadget, one trinket and one quiver or shield can be worn together. The chest rig, load-carrying vest, bandolier and equipment belt are worn on the body and drawn fitted to every body shape, like vanilla's bandolier. Packs, quivers and sling pouches sit on the back without loose straps hanging off them.
  • Magic gear: boots of levitation (hover), bracer of jutsu turning (techniques do 25% less, one in seven fails), cloak of confusion, cloak of the clear eye, thief's gloves.
  • Armour pieces: jingasa, sode, kote, dō, haidate and iron greaves (harder kicks). Clothing: kimono, hakama, haori, noragi, tear-away clothing, kasa, waraji.
  • Lenses and masks: anti-flash, night-vision, infravision, zooming, lie-detector, condition-viewing and x-ray lenses; gas mask and rebreather.

Most gear has its own look on the pawn, painted for every body shape: cloaks and the haori hang open at the front so the clothes beneath show, kabuto cover the whole head, and packs, quivers and shields are the same size on every body type. The line launcher is drawn too, slung low on the hip. Like vanilla belts, small items aren't drawn on the pawn: the half, quick-loader, scroll and utility pouches, the four bullet pouches, waist pack, leg rig, the flasks, mugs, goblet, cups, winged bottle and Leyden jutsu bottle, the auto-injector harness, emitters, propulsion disk, pouch projector, dungeoneer's compass, disruptor, grapnel gun and multi-tool.

Gadgets

Worn gadgets add a button: grapnel gun (pull yourself 22 cells), line launcher (fires a cord into an enemy and reels them in), sonic emitter (stuns enemies around you, daily), magnetic emitter (rips metal weapons away, daily), propulsion disk (dash), pouch projector (smoke), dungeoneer's compass (clears the fog, daily), disruptor (sets off enemy traps, stuns machines, daily). The auto-injector harness tends every wound when the wearer goes down or bleeds badly, then needs about a day to refill; a button on the wearer shows "Ready" or how long until it is. Air trecks make the wearer glide. The seeker mine walks to the nearest enemy and goes off. Nets pin everyone they land on; the empyreal net also seals chakra.

Field medicine, restraints and locks
  • Field cauterizer, pressure seal bandage, field splint, anti-shock blanket: used on anyone nearby.
  • Restraints (rope, iron cuffs, magnacuffs, security collar, binding corset, chakra-sealing collar): used on a prisoner, slave or downed enemy. They can't join prison breaks; the collar also blocks techniques. Take them off with the matching operation.
  • Locks fitted to your doors multiply their hit points (padlock ×1.3 up to vault lock ×3). The lock-breaking kit weakens a sealed casket's wards and disarms its poison; the security kit takes enemy traps apart.
Containers and books
  • The Leyden jutsu bottle stores one technique (up to A rank) to release later for free. Trinkets (flasks, mugs, goblets, cups, gourd, winged bottle) give small bonuses; the goblet of sustenance slows hunger.
  • The cauldron of brewing, formula alembic and admixture funnel speed up a nearby alchemy table.
  • Loremaster Encyclopedia volumes and other books teach skills (each reader once). Grimoires raise a ritual school by one rank (up to B). Map scrolls reveal a sealed ruin to explore.
Odds and ends

New oils against monsters, the undead, summoned beings, entities and blood-drinkers; metal polish; plant growth powder; scent killer; salt bomb (hurts summons and entities); smoke pellet; acid flask and sunsfane; seven Japanese instruments for Bards; and candy, which gives Yokushin chakra back.

How it looks when worn

All worn clothing and gear is drawn on RimWorld's own body and head shapes for every body type, in the same flat, bold style as the base game. Village headbands (the cloth band; the steel plate stays steel), the haori, the jingasa, the buckler and tedate, the Japanese armour and clothes (dō, haidate, hakama, kote, sode, noragi) and the tear-away jacket take the colour of the material they're made from. The kimono keeps its indigo wave pattern and red obi, and the Kazeraikou clan vest its slate blue. The kasa is a wide straw hat with a chin cord. The goggles were made smaller to sit properly on the face. Item pages show the worn look next to each item's icon.
