Clans and bloodlines

Clans come from genes, and the only way to take another clan's power is surgery.

In short

Each clan is a gene with its own tree. Another clan's power comes only from surgery: a Medical Specialist (medical arts B or higher, Medicine 8) extracts tissue and grafts it, capped at B rank. A graft can be rejected; the graft is lost, never the patient.

Clans
  • Each clan is a gene (and a xenotype) with its own tree in the Clan tab: Kazeraikou, Inuzuka, Nara, Kaguya, Masamune (Iron Sand), Hozuki, Akimichi, Yamanaka, Hoshigaki, Ōgumo, Kamizuru, Protean, Toujitakumi, Airontoku and eighteen more from the archive.
  • World of Naruto's own Sharingan, Byakugan and Bug Control genes get companion trees: Uchiha arts, Hyuuga arts and Aburame arts. The eye techniques need the eye switched on.
  • Crystal Release and Paper Release are genes with ninjutsu trees.
Taking a bloodline
  • Only a Medical Specialist with medical arts at B rank or higher and Medicine 8 can do it.
  • Extract bloodline tissue from a living clan prisoner (painful, a 15% chance of death, and the colony won't like it), or from a fresh clan corpse at the butcher table.
  • Take bloodline eye: for eye bloodlines (Sharingan, Byakugan, Ryuugan and others), remove the eye itself. The eye is lost for good, but the sample is rejected much less.
  • Success: B 40%, A 60%, S 80%, adjusted by Medicine skill. Samples rot after 4 days unless kept cold.
  • Graft bloodline: gives the clan gene and its tree, capped at B rank (A rank when an S-rank Medical Specialist grafts living tissue).
Rejection
  • A graft brings graft rejection, an illness that can be tended. If it runs its full course the graft is lost, never the patient.
  • One graft per person. A second graft risks losing both.
  • Some members of the Black Ink Syndicate carry stolen, grafted bloodlines of their own.
