Ninja names and backstories
Ninja and villagers in NFRP World get Japanese-style names and ninja-world backstories instead of RimWorld's usual ones.
Japanese-style names, some with nicknames, and 95 ninja-world backstories for NFRP factions and ninja starts. Ninja-trained backstories give the Chakra trait. Two settings bring them to other starts.
Names
- Given name first, family name second, for example Nanaho Nomura or Miho Shirahara.
- Hundreds of given names for each gender and hundreds of family names, so repeats are rare.
- Some ninja carry a nickname, for example Hisako 'Lantern' Kanamoto. About one ninja in 15 has one; Black Ink rogues have them more often.
- Clans that exist in the game may keep their own family name for their members.
Backstories
42 childhoods and 53 adulthoods from the ninja world, written in the base game's style, with their own skills and work limits. A few examples:
- Childhoods: academy hopeful, contract child (raised by summoning beasts), shore-village fisher child, clan heir, bandit-camp child.
- Adulthoods: genin team leader, masked-guard operative, field medic, sealing scribe, ramen cook, rōnin, missing-nin.
Each group gets fitting stories: village ninja get shinobi and village-folk stories, Black Ink gets underworld stories, the Venator get their own, the feudal houses get samurai and court stories. Villagers and merchants get village-folk stories only.
Ninja-trained backstories (academy students, clan heirs, genin team leaders, masked-guard operatives, missing-nin, medics, sensors and the like, 33 in all) give the Chakra trait, so those pawns can use techniques and have the ninja tab. Village-folk and feudal backstories never do.
Who gets them
- NFRP's villages, Black Ink, the Venator, the feudal houses and their villagers.
- World of Naruto's village, rogue and trader ninja.
- Colonists in NFRP's own Hidden Village start and World of Naruto's ninja starts.
Settings
For other starts (such as Crashlanded), two settings on the World tab, under World and events, are off by default:
- Ninja names for new colonists: new colonists, wanderers who join and other pawns made for you get ninja names.
- Ninja backstories for new colonists: they can also get ninja-world backstories, next to RimWorld's usual ones.
Colonists you already have keep their names and backstories.
